Preventative Maintenance

Many Customers refer to their UPS system as that big box that sits in the corner of the room making noise. Never fully understanding or appreciating how critical its function is until their computer screens go blank.

Just because the UPS sits there making noise day in and day out, this doesn't mean that it is in proper operating condition. UPS systems are complex pieces of highly technical electronic equipment and need regular preventative maintenance (PM) much like a car does. The maintenance intervals can vary from 1 to 4 visits per year, or in some cases monthly. This maintenance needs to be performed by an experienced, highly trained UPS Field Engineer.

What maintenance does a UPS need? There are many check points to make on a UPS. Many of these are industry standards and have been established by IEEE (www.ieee.org which is this world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology. During a Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspection, our Field Engineers will perform several visual and mechanical checks. They will inspect for any burned or darkening electrical components (indicating wear/failure), check for loose connections, perform a thermal scan for hot spots, take electrical readings, and perform general cleaning just to name a few.

And because batteries are the weakest link/most common critical failure point of a UPS, our Field Engineers will check/test the batteries at every scheduled maintenance inspection.

Because Nationwide Power is a multi-brand UPS service provider, our Field Engineers are familiar with many makes and models. Most of our Engineers completed their formal training with one of the OEM's. They took this experience with them and applied it to learning other manufactured brands. This multi-brand experience gives our Engineers superior problem solving skills and abilities. They know UPS electronics both in operation and theory and apply this knowledge to solve problems.

Our Field Engineers are the critical link in our success in keeping your equipment properly maintained and operating for when that time comes when you need your UPS to work. Let Nationwide's highly skilled Field Engineers look after your equipment and leave the maintenance management to us. Call us today at 800-868-2780 for a quick quote please go to our RFQ form.
